Visit any County Courthouse in Washington State to apply for a valid Marriage License. Applicants do not need to be residents of Washington State.

Your license authorizes your marriage in any County in the state.

Please know there is a 3-day waiting period from the date of issue.  To be safe, secure your marriage license anytime within the 60-day window before your marriage date…do this sooner than later.

To apply for your marriage license, you need your happy selves, a $64 license fee and picture ID.  Both parties must be unmarried, over the age of 18 and/or meet the age requirements as outlined on such County websites including King County Marriage License.

A blood test is not required. If previously married, either or both applicants must be divorced. Proof of divorce is not required when applying in-person for a license.

Note: If you are applying for your license from out-of-state, you can start the process, online or via phone and/or mail. If you seek to secure your marriage license in Seattle, go to the King County website above or below to download an application form.
