From Utah to Seattle – A Sweet & Early Saturday Morning Elopement!

Posted on July 12, 2012 by Annemarie

Aaron and JeNeil got in their SUV and drove from Utah to Seattle in less than two days.

For personal reasons, they wanted to “elope” and be married in Seattle.  They made it and they did!

On Saturday morning, July 7th, with their darling son at their side, Aaron and JeNeil exchanged vows in a beautiful Seattle park, under a very old, huge and gorgeous tree.

Photographer Jenny Goldberg-George captured the moment to the left as Aaron and JeNeil soaked in their first “we are so very married!” moment!

I love early morning weddings, especially for an elopement or tiny wedding ceremony.  In public places, there are few people around giving a couple extra privacy.  And the “feel” of a public place (park, beach, etc.,) is less crowded and frenetic.

Aaron and JeNeil – much, much happiness and joy to the two of you and your family!

There Is Nothing Like A Morning Elopement in Seattle!

Posted on April 19, 2012 by Annemarie

There is nothing like a morning wedding ceremony – especially for an elopement!

Picture this.  John and Kara.  15 family and friends.  All flew in to Seattle for this sweet ceremony and celebration.

Tulio Restaurant, downtown Seattle – Saturday, 10:30 a.m. – ceremony, brunch, festivities – and the rest of the day to explore, enjoy and play in Seattle.

A morning wedding ceremony is often so very fun for a couple.  It gives them the opportunity for a lunch or brunch and the rest of the day is totally and fully available to create lifetime memories.

Also, many venues offer added value for a morning ceremony – unlike the “prime time of an afternoon or evening ceremony and celebration.

Kara and Josh – much, much happiness to you!

How To Get Married in Seattle Before Your Summer Cruise to Alaska!

Posted on April 5, 2011 by Annemarie

You want to get married in Seattle before you board the ship for your cruise to Alaska!

Let me offer some guidance and tips for successfully putting together your wedding ceremony the day before your cruise or the morning you depart for Alaska from the Seattle waterfront.

Each year, thousands of people board cruise boats in Seattle and take a beautiful one or two week voyage through Alaska’s inside package. And also each year, many couples get married in Seattle before they take their cruise. Just think of this as a wedding 2-for-1 deal!

If you are flying in to Seattle, you will need to coordinate logistics to “get you married.” If you are local to the Puget Sound area or live in Washington State, these tips also apply to you:

1) Best Hotel Location is Downtown Seattle: Most cruises to Alaska leave from the Seattle waterfront which is a few blocks away from all parts of downtown Seattle. To make things easy, stay at a hotel in downtown Seattle and taking a cab to the cruise terminal. You may decide to be married at your hotel or perhaps take advantage of some of the wonderful waterfront venues available in the Seattle area for a sweet outdoor wedding ceremony: Alki Beach, Magnolia Bluff, Hamilton Viewpoint Park or perhaps the Kirkland Waterfront, to name a few.

2) Marriage License: You will need a valid Washington State Marriage License. You can apply for this license within 60 days of your wedding ceremony and there is a 3-day waiting period. A license purchased in one County of Washington State is good for all Counties in Washington State. For more information on securing a marriage license in Seattle, contact the King County Marriage License Office at: http://www.kingcounty.gov/courts/marriage.aspx

3) Find Someone To Marry You! You will need to locate and secure a Judge, Minister or Officiant/Celebrant to marry you! You can do an internet search for Seattle for a short list of possibilities and contact each wedding professional to determine their availability, fees and if their style of ceremony resonates with you. In Seattle, there are marvelous Officiants of all faiths and traditions available to you.

4) Pre-Cruise Department Celebration Dinner: If you are being married the day before your cruise ship leaves Seattle, you may want to make a reservation at a restaurant in downtown Seattle or nearby for your celebration dinner. There are so many wonderful “celebration restaurants” in Seattle for such an event. Ask your Hotel concierge for recommendations (make your dinner reservation before arriving in Seattle) or your Officiant may be able to recommend some favorite dining places to celebrate your wedding day!

Including A Little Person In Your Elopement! Children Bring Such Joy To A Small & Intimate Wedding Ceremony…

Children Bring Joy To An Intimate Ceremony!

Just look at this smile!  This little guy took center stage with his cuteness and good looks while his Mommy and Daddy were married at a sweet chapel in Port Gamble, Washington.

Eloping just isn’t about a couple.  It is often about their most immediate family.  For a couple with a child or children, it’s important that their elopement (a small and intimate wedding ceremony) include their children.

So, if you are planning a sweet ceremony and want to include a little person, let’s work together to not only celebrate your loving relationship but let’s incorporate the joy a child brings to a “let’s get married moment!”

How to Apply For A Marriage License in Seattle and Washington State ~ A Mini & Quick “How To” Guide!

Posted on January 10, 2011 by Annemarie

You’re getting married in Seattle, Washington or elsewhere in Washington State and need a valid marriage license.

Here is your mini and quick “how to” guide to obtaining your marriage license – this applies to Seattle or any County in Washington State.

1)  Contact the Marriage License Bureau or Department of any County in Washington State.  You may do this by phone or check requirements on the web.

2)  To secure your license, you will need to apply in person.  You may also apply for your license via phone and mail and arrange to pick-up your license.  License fees vary by County and average $60-66.  If applying for your license in-person, you both need to show up and be 18 years or older.  County requirements vary a bit if you are applying for a license long distance so please contact the County of your choice. No blood test required.

3)  Once you have your license in hand, it’s good for 60 days from the date it is issued. Also, please remember there is a 3-day waiting period from the date of issue – meaning, you have to wait 3 days to get hitched/married from the date the license is valid.

The Washington Coast is a remarkable, brilliantly beautiful and “out-of-the-way” place for a small/intimate wedding ceremony or elopement!

Mark and Juanita flew in from Colorado and with their closest friends/family, we hiked down to the water’s edge on a chilly Monday morning.  The fog was rolling in, the air was crisp, every was dressed to kill ~ it was just a remarkable and memorable moment.
