It was just the very best moment yesterday afternoon on the Washington State ferry as two lovebirds from the Mid-West eloped to Seattle to be married!
The setting was spectacular as the ferry pulled away from Coleman dock. With hundreds of happy ferry going witnesses, Mark and Lorena exchanged beautiful words and vows on the back of the ferry, with Seattle as their back-drop.
Joined by five happy friends and a photographer, it was just one of “those moments” when you know all is right with the world.
Like Jocelyn and Rodney’s wedding (see below), I love a ferry wedding. It’s elegant, easy and a gift from the Washington State Ferry System…i.e., it’s free!
I love a casual and easy (and fun!) wedding ceremony, especially when it is on a Washington State ferry!
On the morning of the 4th of July, Rodney and Jocelyn – joined by 22 happy family and friends – boarded the 10:35 a.m. sailing from Seattle to Bainbridge Island.
As the boat pulled out of the Seattle pier, we took our places on the back of the boat, with the Seattle skyline in full color behind us.
Beautiful words and vows were exchanged including the presentation of a sweet gift to Rodney’s young daughter. There was the added happiness of the sea air, seagulls, ferry goers, wind and warm sunshine and more.
Rodney and Jocelyn – wish you so much happiness!
Earlier this summer, I had the honor of joining Bud and Mary together in marriage.
For precious reasons, this couple was married in the loving presence of their children and close family/friends on a Washington State ferry from Seattle to Bainbridge Island.
They celebrated with a weekend on Bainbridge Island before traveling to their temporary home in Tacoma.
Each day, I think of Mary and hold her in my heart. She is going through an extraordinary time in her life and her loving husband, Bud, is one of her great gifts.
Grace, healing and comfort to you, Mary, Bud and family.
Donna + Karen.
Meet 2 fabulous ladies from Missouri who “eloped” to Seattle to be married on a Washington State ferry on one gorgeous April Monday afternoon!
Accompanied by 6 very happy family and friends, Donna and Karen exchanged beautiful and personal vows on the front of the ferry as it sailed away from the Seattle dock to Bainbridge Island. And under a glorious canopy of sunshine and gentle wind, Donna and Karen were beautifully married, celebrating more than 14 years of loving partnership.
Congratulations to 2 beautiful ladies! Come back and visit soon!
As we get closer to Spring, it’s wedding time for many couples on a Washington State Ferry! Just as Andrew and Jenny were married on the bow of the ferry from Seattle to Bainbridge Island, you could be, to!
The best part is the Washington State Ferry System offers this opportunity at no charge. You just have to work your wedding ceremony around non-peak travel times (i.e. morning or afternoon “rush hour.”
So for more information on getting hitched on the water, en route to Bainbridge Island, Bremerton or Whidbey Island, give me a call at 425.922.1325. So very fun!

It was a blustery November Sunday and with great style and panache, Ruth Ann and Jeff weathered the outdoor elements and got hitched, ferry style!
This sweet couple flew in from Illinois and with quintessential style, exchanged vows and precious words on the afternoon sailing today from Seattle to Bainbridge Island.
Jeff and Ruth Ann took advantage of one of Seattle’s best kept wedding secrets: with permission, the Washington State Ferry System allows loving couples to get married on board a ferry sailing, depending on date and time of day.
So, if you want a sweet, elegant and very fun-loving wedding experience, consider a ferry wedding. Jeff and Ruth Ann – much happiness to you!
Andrew + Jenny.
This romantic and devoted couple from Massachusetts decided to elope to the Puget Sound and within just a week, made plans for a Washington State ferry wedding.
I joined this dynamic duo and Seattle Photographer, Jenny GG, on board the Bainbridge Island – Seattle ferry run on Friday, June 29th – and with the Seattle skyline in the background, Andrew and Jenny got “hitched” ferry style!
Like Andrew and Jenny, if you’d like to get married on a Washington State Ferry, give me a call at 425.922.1325 or drop an email. The process is fun, easy and creates such a memorable lifetime moment!

Peter and Julie. A loving, devoted, fun, inspiring and gorgeous couple.
Julie’s Dad, who has since passed away, was a Captain on Washington State Ferries years.
Living on Bainbridge Island, Peter and Julie decided to “elope” on the 12:20 p.m. ferry to Seattle on a sunny Saturday, March 3rd.
They invited their their closest people. They offered invitations to friends to join them – thinking few would show up. Wrong!
100+ friends gathered to join the couple for their vows as the ferry made it’s way to Seattle.
Very fun. Very Peter and Julie. So happy to join in this wonderful life moment!

- Sean & Alexa – WA State Ferry ’11
With happy family and friends looking on, Sean and Alexa took advantage of a “holiday weekday” to get married on a Washington State Ferry, enroute from Bremerton to Seattle!
As we finished up their ceremony on the deck of the boat (yes, it was a little cold!, we all turned around and were thrilled to see a beautiful and brilliant rainbow.
If you’d like to be married on a Washington State Ferry, you must call the Ferry System and get permission. There is no cost for this and eloping on a boat is a boatload of fun (sorry, couldn’t help myself!).
Kudos To Ferry Staff!
The staff on the Bremerton to Seattle run were wonderful around this wedding! They made two announcements congratulating Sean and Alexa. And a number of ferry passengers came up to say hello and walked away with one of Sean and Alexa’s delicious wedding cupcakes!
